Verifying domain ownership with a DNS TXT record

Before MxGuard will accept mail for a domain, you must prove you control it. This stops anyone adding your domain to their own account.

Steps: 1. In the console, add your domain and enter your backend mail server hostname (the real server MxGuard will forward clean mail to). 2. MxGuard generates a unique verification token and shows you a DNS TXT record to publish. 3. Add that TXT record at your DNS provider, at the location shown. 4. Wait for DNS to propagate — usually 5–60 minutes, occasionally up to 24 hours with slower providers — then click verify.

Once verification succeeds you can configure forwarding and point your MX records at mx1.mxguard.uk (priority 10) and mx2.mxguard.uk (priority 20). Only after the MX change does live mail begin flowing through MxGuard, so verifying the TXT record first is safe and causes no disruption.
