Step-by-step: setting up the SIP trunk on FreePBX
To connect your 25-Line account to FreePBX:
- In FreePBX go to Connectivity → Trunks → Add Trunk (chan_pjsip recommended).
- Give the trunk a name and set the Outbound CallerID to the DID you want presented (this determines your rate tier — a matching in-country number earns national rates).
- Under pjsip Settings → General, set:
- Username: your account user ID
- Secret: your account password
- SIP Server:
sip.transcom.net- SIP Server Port: 5060 (or 5061 for TLS) - Registration: Send - On the Codecs tab, allow ulaw (G.711u), g722 and g729.
- Submit and Apply Config, then check Reports → Asterisk Info → Registries shows the trunk registered.
- Add outbound routes to send calls over the trunk and inbound routes to map DIDs to extensions or IVRs.
Test with the FreeVoIP echo (4443) and Caller ID (1-555-555-0911) numbers.
