Why your outbound Caller ID unlocks national rates

National rates — the cheapest way to call landlines and mobiles — depend on the Caller ID you present, not on where you physically are. If you call a UK number while presenting a UK Caller ID, the call stays on the domestic network and is charged at national rates.

To qualify you either validate a number you already own outside the FreeVoIP network, or add a DID from our inventory and set it as your outbound Caller ID. Once linked to your account, calls to that country get national pricing. The US and Canada are the exception — they get national rates without any local Caller ID.

One important catch: do not hide your Caller ID if you want national rates. Withholding it drops you onto standard international pricing.
