Restoring lost or deleted mail from backup
Managed Email includes encrypted, off-site backups with 30-day retention, which means an important message deleted last week isn't necessarily gone. If you need something back, here's how it works.
When we can help: anything within the last 30 days. That covers the common cases — a message or folder deleted by accident, a mailbox emptied in error, or recovery after a wider problem. Because retention is a rolling 30 days, the sooner you ask after a loss the better.
What to tell us:
- Which mailbox is affected.
- Roughly what was lost — a specific message, a folder, or the whole mailbox.
- When you last saw it and roughly when it went missing, so we can target the right point in the backup history.
What we do: locate the mail in the backups and restore it for you. You don't need any backup software or access yourself — the backups run automatically in the background and recovery is something we handle on request.
If you're not sure whether something is recoverable, ask anyway — it's better to check than to assume it's gone.
