Encrypted off-site backups with 30-day retention explained

Managed Email includes something most email plans don't: encrypted, off-site backups with 30-day retention. It's worth understanding what that gives you.

Encrypted — your backed-up mail is stored in encrypted form, so the backup itself is protected.

Off-site — the backups are held separately from the live mail system. If something ever went wrong with the primary service, your mail wouldn't be sitting in the same place as the only copy.

30-day retention — we keep a rolling 30 days of history. That's the practical window that matters: it covers the classic 'someone deleted an important message last week and now needs it back' situation, as well as recovery from a wider problem.

The key point is that this runs automatically in the background — nobody on your team has to remember to back mail up, and there's no separate backup product to buy or configure.
