Inside MxGuard: the filtering pipeline behind your mail
Managed Email's spam and virus protection comes from MxGuard, Transcom's own AI mail gateway. Rather than a single spam test, MxGuard stacks several independent layers so anything one misses another catches. Every inbound message to every one of your 25 mailboxes passes through the full pipeline.
The layers:
- DNSBL (DNS blocklists) — the sending server's IP is checked against reputation lists of known spam sources.
- URIBL (URI blocklists) — the links inside a message are checked, catching a clean-looking message that points at a known scam or malware site.
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC — authentication checks that confirm the sender is genuine, catching spoofed and forged mail.
- Machine-learning classifier — an AI model scores each message on the patterns that separate real mail from spam and phishing, and keeps improving over time.
- ClamAV virus scanning — attachments and payloads are scanned for malware before they reach your team.
- Per-domain rules — filtering tuned to your specific domain and business.
A message has to pass on every count to reach an inbox. It's a business-grade gateway, run for you at no extra cost — there's no filtering software for anyone on your team to install or maintain.
