How ClamAV virus scanning protects your mailbox
Spam is only half the threat — malicious attachments are the other. Every message that reaches Business Email is scanned by ClamAV, an open-source antivirus engine, as part of the MxGuard pipeline.
ClamAV inspects attachments and message payloads against a continuously-updated database of virus, trojan and malware signatures. Anything matching a known threat is stopped at the gateway, before it ever arrives in your mailbox — so a booby-trapped invoice or a malware-laden document never gets the chance to be opened by mistake.
Because the scanning happens on Transcom's gateway rather than on your device, it protects you whichever app you read your mail in — webmail, phone or desktop — and there is no antivirus software for you to buy, install or keep up to date on your own machine. It is included in the single yearly price.
