Inside the phone signal: E.164 parsing, line type and carrier lookup
Veritus treats the phone number as a rich risk signal rather than a formality.
- E.164 parsing for 240+ countries — the number is normalised to the international standard and validated for the country it claims to belong to.
- Line-type classification — Veritus distinguishes mobile, landline and VoIP numbers. VoIP numbers are cheap and disposable, so they carry more risk in most signup flows.
- Carrier lookup — the operator behind the number is identified.
- Country-of-registration verification — the number's country is checked so it can be compared against the IP and address for consistency.
Because the classification is returned as a reason code such as phone.voip, you can see exactly why a submission was flagged and, if a VoIP number is normal for your audience, write a rule to allow it.
