0800 vs 0808: What's the Difference?

Both 0800 and 0808 are Freephone ranges — free for the caller to dial from UK landlines and mobiles — so from a customer's point of view they behave identically.

The difference is largely one of heritage and availability. 0800 is the original, long-established Freephone range that people instantly recognise. 0808 is a newer range opened up as demand for Freephone numbers grew, and it's where many of the remaining memorable and gold combinations can still be found.
