The Transcom engine — and correct drop timing generally — requires the server to run on UTC/Zulu time, because every Nominet drop time is expressed in Zulu.

The VPS is provisioned ready for the engine, but if you are configuring your own software or want to confirm the clock, set the system timezone to UTC. On the Linux install this is a standard timezone change; once set, all times the engine reports and acts on are in Zulu, matching Nominet.

Getting this right is essential: if the clock is on a local timezone, your create commands will be fired at the wrong moment and you will lose drops even with perfect latency.
