Why six cores matter: parallel non-blocking EPP sockets

The VPS ships with 6 virtual CPUs, and the multi-core specification is deliberate. The modern dropcatch engine runs many non-blocking EPP sockets in parallel, and each of those sockets benefits from CPU to drive it without contention.

On a single- or dual-core box the engine's sockets compete for the same limited processing time, which can blunt timing at the exact moment it matters. Six cores give the engine room to fan out its sockets and keep them all firing cleanly.

Combined with the low latency from the Slough location, the multi-core spec is what lets the engine press hard on a competitive drop — many sockets, all active, all close to Nominet.
