What username should I use when I register?

Registration is deliberately simple — just two lines. Your username can be anything you like.

That said, for consistency we recommend using your Nominet IPS TAG or your Acorn account name if you have one. Using a recognisable identifier keeps your account aligned with your registrar identity and makes it easier to reconcile catches if you later transfer domains out to your own TAG.

If you have neither a TAG nor an Acorn account, that is fine — you do not need one to use Free Access. Pick any username and carry on; you can still catch, keep or transfer domains normally.
