You do not need to be a Nominet TAG holder
A common assumption is that you must be an accredited Nominet registrar — a TAG holder — to catch dropping .uk domains. With Free Access you do not.
The catching is done by Transcom's engine under Transcom's own registrar infrastructure. When a domain is caught it lands on Transcom's TAG, and you take ownership from there. This opens dropcatching to anyone: domain investors, small businesses chasing a specific expiring name, or agencies acquiring names for clients.
After a catch you have two paths: - Leave the domain on Transcom's TAG, with renewals at current rates, or - Transfer it out to your own TAG if you are a registrar or use one.
So while TAG holders are welcome (and can also run under their own TAG via the leased or owned engine options), holding a TAG is not a requirement to use Free Access.
