Post-check registration: catching names the slot missed

Transcom 13 Feb 2026, 07:13

Timing does not always go your way — the release window can pass before your create lands. The engine includes post-check registration for exactly this case.

After the primary catching attempt, the engine can re-check a name and, if it has become available (for example because it dropped but no one successfully caught it in the slot), register it. This gives you a second bite: a domain that slipped through the initial timing window can still end up on your account rather than being lost entirely.

It is a safety net rather than a primary strategy, but on lower-contention names it recovers catches that pure slot-timing would have missed.
