Connecting to Hybrid VPN on Windows

Hybrid VPN uses L2TP/IPSEC, which is built into Windows — no extra software needed. Have your provisioning email to hand (server address, username, password and pre-shared key).

1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > VPN and choose Add a VPN connection.
2. Set VPN provider to Windows (built-in).
3. Give it a name, then enter your server address (or vanity hostname) in Server name or address.
4. Set VPN type to L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key and enter the pre-shared key from your email.
5. Enter your username and password, then Save.
6. Click the connection and choose Connect.

Once connected you are on your dedicated server with your static IP, and SmartDNS unlocking is active through the tunnel. If it fails to connect, see the L2TP troubleshooting article.
