Checking that SmartDNS is active

After changing your DNS settings, it is worth confirming everything took effect:

1. Open the streaming service you want to unlock (for example BBC iPlayer or US Netflix) and check that the region-locked content now plays. This is the most reliable test.
2. If it doesn't unlock straight away, fully close and reopen the streaming app, or restart the device, so it picks up the new DNS.
3. On phones and TVs, make sure you entered both the primary and secondary addresses and saved the network settings.
4. If you set SmartDNS on your router, run the router's network test and reconnect your devices so they pick up the new settings.

Remember there is no login, app or reboot required for SmartDNS itself — if a service still won't unlock after the app has been restarted, see the troubleshooting article or contact UK support.
