Making SmartDNS work on Android mobile data with Private DNS
The standard Wi-Fi DNS method on Android only applies while you are on that Wi-Fi network. If you want SmartDNS to keep working when you leave home and switch to mobile data, use the system-wide Private DNS option instead:
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Private DNS.
- Choose the private DNS provider hostname option.
- Enter the SmartDNS hostname supplied with your account.
- Save.
This applies across both Wi-Fi and mobile data, so your streaming stays unlocked wherever you are. If you did not receive a Private DNS hostname, contact UK support and we will provide it. (An Android app is also on the way to make this automatic.)
