The nine processes behind FastAPN — and the DPF block check

Transcom 16 Oct 2025, 04:03

Acceleration is only part of what FastAPN does. The service incorporates nine separate processes applied to your traffic, of which the Deep Packet Filter (DPF) is just one.

The DPF removes unwanted data at source — before it ever crosses the expensive link to you. That means adverts, telemetry, adware, malware, phishing and tracking are stripped upstream, so you neither pay the latency cost nor waste bandwidth carrying them.

FastAPN publishes a live Block Check tool (the "FastAPN Block Check", an Unwanted Data Processing Check) that shows how much of your current traffic is junk. The rule of thumb the service gives: anything below 80% clean means you are being flooded with adverts, telemetry, adware, malware, phishing and tracking. Running the check on an unfiltered connection and then again through FastAPN makes the difference visible.

The headline figures FastAPN reports across its network give a sense of scale: over 9 billion adverts filtered, tens of billions of URLs blocked, and billions of gigabytes of background traffic removed.
