PSN, CSN and RSN: FastAPN's three node types
FastAPN can be delivered through three different kinds of service node, depending on whether you are an individual user, an enterprise, or an aircraft operator.
PSN — Public Service Node The standard shared infrastructure deployed around the world. These are shared resources serving many clients, and they are dynamic in size, growing as traffic demands. Authentication is by proxy or RADIUS. This is what daypass, monthly and annual subscribers connect to.
CSN — Corporate Service Node A dedicated, client-owned node that gives an operator its own control. A CSN adds policy controls over throughput, ports, URLs, IP addresses and even MAC addresses, with flexible authentication by RADIUS, proxy or direct IP routing.
RSN — Remote Service Node A portable physical unit (roughly 60cm × 30cm × 10cm) built for integration on board an aircraft. It has built-in WiFi to the aircraft's system and connects to passenger or crew devices by Ethernet, USB or Bluetooth. An RSN can run standalone or work alongside PSN and CSN nodes.
Most customers only ever meet the PSN. CSN and RSN are for fleet, airline and enterprise deployments and are arranged through the FastAPN team.
