The four hosting modes: Website, Forwarding, No hosting and Shop
Every domain in TDesk runs in one of four modes, and you can switch between them at any time from the panel.
1. Website
Standard web hosting — an nginx + PHP-FPM vhost under your isolated Linux user, with databases, files and SSL. This is the mode for a normal site or application.
2. Forwarding
The domain simply redirects visitors to another address. Ideal for a spare or alternate domain that should send people to your main site.
3. No hosting
Mail and DNS only — no web vhost. Use this when a domain exists to carry email or DNS records but has no website of its own.
4. Shop
Turns the domain into a full ecommerce storefront (see our ecommerce article) rather than a plain website.
Because the mode is a per-domain setting, a single account can mix a live website, a redirect, a mail-only domain and a shop side by side.
