Setting up Deep Packet Filter on iPhone and iPad

kev106 09 Jan 2026, 06:20

Configure Deep Packet Filter (DPF) on iOS or iPadOS using the DNS addresses from your access ticket email.

  1. Open Settings → Wi-Fi and tap the icon next to your connected network.
  2. Scroll to the DNS section and tap Configure DNS, then change from Automatic to Manual.
  3. Tap Add Server and enter your primary DNS address.
  4. Tap Add Server again and enter your secondary DNS address.
  5. Remove any existing DNS servers listed.
  6. Tap Save (top right).

Caveat: iOS stores DNS settings per Wi-Fi network, so you'll need to repeat this for each network you use. These manual settings apply to Wi-Fi only; on mobile data your device uses the carrier's DNS. To protect every device at home with one change, set the DNS on your router.
