Setting up Deep Packet Filter on Android (including mobile data)

There are two ways to use Deep Packet Filter (DPF) on Android. Use the Private DNS method if you want protection on mobile data as well as Wi-Fi.

Standard method (Wi-Fi): 1. Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi, long-press your connected network and choose Modify Network. 2. Tap Advanced Options and change IP Settings from DHCP to Static. 3. Scroll to the DNS fields and enter your primary address in DNS 1 and secondary in DNS 2. 4. Tap Save and reconnect if prompted.

Private DNS method (Wi-Fi and mobile data): Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Private DNS and enter the hostname provided with your subscription. This gives system-wide protection, including over mobile data — ideal when you're away from Wi-Fi.
