Silencing telemetry and background OS analytics
Modern operating systems, apps and smart devices constantly report back to their makers — usage data, diagnostics and 'anonymous' analytics. This background telemetry consumes bandwidth and erodes privacy, often with little or no benefit to you.
Deep Packet Filter (DPF) blocks background telemetry, OS analytics and silent auto-reporting at the network level.
Why it matters:
- Bandwidth — telemetry runs quietly around the clock, on every device. On a busy home or office network that adds up, and on a metered or satellite link it can be genuinely costly.
- Privacy — much of this reporting happens without any clear prompt or consent. Blocking it at the DNS layer stops the chatter before it leaves your network.
- Every device — because DPF works at the DNS layer, it covers phones, laptops, smart TVs and IoT gadgets alike, not just the ones where you can dig into settings.
DPF's live counters show millions of telemetry and analytics lookups blocked across its user base — a good illustration of just how much silent background traffic a typical connection carries.
