HV-8G or HA-8G? Choosing between storage and compute

The HV-8G and HA-8G share exactly the same compute — 8 GB RAM and 3 vCPU — so the only real difference is storage and price:

• HA-8G — £24/month — 100 GB NVMe
• HV-8G — £28/month — 1 TB NVMe

For an extra £4 a month the HV-8G gives you roughly ten times the disk. The decision is simply what your workload runs out of first.

Choose the HA-8G when your bottleneck is memory or CPU and 100 GB is plenty of space — most databases, application stacks and multi-service boxes fit comfortably.

Choose the HV-8G when you need lots of space: file/media servers, backup targets, self-hosted cloud storage, large log or database archives, or anything holding a growing pile of user uploads.

A quick test: if you can imagine filling 100 GB within the life of the server, pay the small premium for the terabyte now — it saves a migration later. If disk is comfortably under half full and likely to stay there, the HA-8G is the better value. Either way the storage is fast NVMe and dedicated to your server, and you can move between tiers because there's no contract.
