The SS-NOMINET tier: tuned for Nominet and registrar workloads
The SS-NOMINET — £18.00/month is a compute-heavy tier aimed squarely at Nominet and registrar workloads. It provides 6 vCPU with 4 GB RAM and 80 GB NVMe, on unlimited bandwidth with IPv4 and IPv6.
Registrar tooling tends to be CPU- and concurrency-heavy rather than memory-heavy: it opens many EPP connections, signs and validates a lot of traffic, and needs to fan out work across cores. Six dedicated vCPU give that kind of software plenty of parallelism while keeping the price sensible. It suits:
- Running against a Nominet TAG for domain management
- EPP client tooling and automation
- Registrar back-office systems and provisioning scripts
- Any concurrent, socket-heavy workload that benefits from cores over RAM
If you specifically need a low-latency dropcatching node positioned close to the Nominet backend, look instead at the Multicore Dropcatch VPS, which is placed inside Iron Mountain Slough for exactly that purpose. The SS-NOMINET is the general registrar workhorse; the Dropcatch VPS is the specialist catching node.
