The HV-8G high-storage tier: 1 TB of NVMe explained
The HV-8G is the storage-focused member of the range. It carries the same compute as the HA-8G — 8 GB RAM and 3 vCPU — but pairs it with 1 TB of NVMe storage instead of 100 GB, for £28.00/month.
That extra terabyte is still NVMe, not slower spinning disk, so you get large capacity and fast random I/O. It's the tier to choose when your bottleneck is space rather than raw compute:
- File, media or backup servers
- Self-hosted cloud storage (Nextcloud and similar)
- Databases with large on-disk datasets
- Log aggregation and archival
- Anything storing lots of user uploads
If your workload comfortably fits 8 GB of RAM but keeps filling its disk, the HV-8G gives you roughly ten times the space of the equivalent HA tier for only a few pounds more each month. As always: unlimited bandwidth, IPv4 and IPv6, full root, free backups, DDoS protection and no contract.
