Smarthost rate limits, who needs it, and cancelling

Do I need Smarthost? It's for self-hosted mail servers and small-ISP setups suffering deliverability problems. If you're on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace you almost certainly don't need it — those already send from reputable IPs.

What's the sending limit? The default is 2,000 messages/day per account. If you exceed it we contact you rather than surprise-bill — so get in touch ahead of time if you expect higher volumes.

Billing and cancelling. Smarthost is billed monthly per account and you can cancel any time. Disabling it simply reverts the domain to direct outbound with no other config changes. It's included free during your MxGuard trial.

Troubleshooting deliverability: make sure you've added include:_spf.mxguard.uk to your SPF record, that you're connecting to smtp.mxguard.uk on port 587 with STARTTLS, and check the dashboard's outbound log to confirm messages are being accepted.
