How the catching process works

The Free Access service is designed to be simple and fully automatic:

• Simple two-line registration. Your username can be anything, but for consistency use your Nominet IPS TAG or Acorn account if you have one.
• No TAG required. You do not need to be a Nominet TAG holder to use the service.
• Automatic submission. The system inserts the expiry and drop dates and allocates resources for you, filtering out any domains that are not in the expired window.
• Live status updates. When a domain is caught, a FastPay link appears next to the result with payment options.
• Cluster transparency. Every result shows which system cluster made the catch (CAUGHT-XX), so you can see the engine behind each win.
