Preserving the original email headers before you send it
The report is built from the message's raw headers and metadata, so it is important that these survive when you send the email to us. A screenshot or copied-and-pasted body text does not contain the header trace we need.
General guidance:
- Forward the original message rather than retyping or pasting its contents.
- Where your mail client offers it, use an option such as Forward as attachment so the original message is preserved whole.
- Do not edit or delete any part of the message before sending it.
If you are not sure whether the headers are intact, send it anyway and mention your concern — our analysts will tell you if anything essential is missing.
