How to check whether your details are hidden in WHOIS

After enabling privacy, verify it's taken effect:

1. Use a public WHOIS lookup tool, or the registry's own web WHOIS (for .uk, Nominet's lookup).
2. Enter your domain name.
3. Look at the registrant / contact fields: - Protected: you'll see redacted fields, privacy placeholders, or a note that data is withheld for privacy. - Not yet protected: your real name/address still shows — allow time for the update to propagate, then recheck.
4. Remember registries cache WHOIS responses; a change can take a little while to appear everywhere.

If your details are still fully visible after a day or so on an eligible TLD, contact support with the domain name.
