Parking pages and your SEO / brand protection

Transcom 26 Apr 2026, 23:51

Leaving a name completely dark (no DNS, no page) can make it look abandoned and offers no brand protection. A parking page addresses both.

Brand protection: a holding page clearly signals the name is owned and controlled. That deters opportunists and reassures anyone who visits that they've reached the legitimate owner.

SEO considerations: parking pages are placeholders, not content sites, so they won't rank or build authority on their own — and that's fine, because their job is presentation, not search performance. If you're holding a name you plan to develop for SEO value, a clean coming-soon page while you build is better than an error page, and you switch to your real site the moment it's ready.

A note on aftermarket names: if you bought an aged name for its history, park it professionally while you develop it rather than letting it 404 — an error page helps no one.
