How domain parking works behind the scenes

Parking is simply a matter of where a domain's DNS points. When you park a name, its A / AAAA records (and usually the www CNAME) are set to Transcom's parking service, which serves the branded page for that name.

Because it's DNS-based: - No hosting is required — you don't need a web package to park a name. - Changes take effect after DNS propagation — usually minutes on our own nameservers, but public resolvers can cache old records up to the record's TTL. - Email is unaffected unless you change MX records — parking touches the web records, so mail can keep flowing if you've set it up.

The parking page itself is generated from a template with your name's details filled in, so there's no HTML for you to write. When you're ready to build a real site, you simply repoint the DNS to your host and the parking page disappears.
