How to move your DNS to Transcom safely after a transfer
Transferring the registrar doesn't move your DNS — if you want DNS hosted here too, do it carefully to avoid downtime:
- Complete the registrar transfer first and let the domain settle in your account.
- In Domains → DNS, recreate every record you currently have: A/AAAA for the web, MX for email, plus any TXT (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), CNAME and SRV records. Copy them exactly from your old DNS.
- Double-check email records especially — a missing MX or SPF record means mail stops.
- Verify the new zone resolves correctly (use
digor an external checker) before switching. - Change the nameservers to Transcom's, then wait for propagation (up to the nameserver TTL).
- Leave the old DNS in place for a day or two as a safety net until propagation completes.
If you'd rather not move DNS at all, that's fine — a transferred domain can keep pointing at whatever nameservers it already uses.
