How to point your new domain at a website or email

Once registered, a domain does nothing until you tell it where to send traffic. From Domains → your domain → DNS:

To point at Transcom hosting/email: use the one-click option to attach the domain to your hosting or mailbox — we set the correct A/AAAA and MX records for you.

To point at a website elsewhere: add an A record for the root (@) pointing at the host's IPv4 address, and usually a CNAME or A record for www.

To point email elsewhere: add the provider's MX records (and any TXT records they specify for SPF/DKIM).

Changes publish across all three nameservers quickly, but remember DNS caching: resolvers hold old records for the length of the record's TTL, so allow up to that long for a change to be seen everywhere. Lowering the TTL a day before a planned move reduces the wait.
