RTT to Nominet backend measuring ~11ms not ~3ms

The whole selling point is ~3ms from the Nominet backend at Iron Mountain Slough, but my pings to the EPP endpoint sit around 11ms consistently. Traceroute looks like it's hairpinning out and back. Is my VPS actually in the Slough facility?
