DPF resolves internal .local names to NXDOMAIN then hangs

On my office LAN, using DPF as the DHCP-pushed resolver breaks internal hostname lookups. My NAS at nas.local won't resolve. A public DNS filter obviously can't know internal names but the failure mode makes the whole thing feel broken.
