How often should you have a server audited?

A Server Security Analysis is a point-in-time assessment — it reflects the state of your server at the time it is carried out. Because servers change and new vulnerabilities appear constantly, a single audit is best treated as part of an ongoing habit rather than a one-off.

As a general guide, it is worth having an audit:

• Periodically as a routine health check, especially for a server holding sensitive data or running business-critical services.
• After significant changes — new services added, a migration, or a change of administrator.
• Whenever you suspect something is wrong — unexpected behaviour, blacklisting, or any hint of unauthorised access.

Between audits, keeping software patched and services locked down does most of the work of staying secure. The audit is what tells you whether that day-to-day discipline is actually holding up across every service on the machine.
