Using your report to complain to an email or internet provider

An Email Forensic Report is written to support a complaint to the provider whose network the message really came from. Once you have it:

1. Identify the abuse contact for the network the report names — most providers publish an abuse@ address or an online abuse form.
2. Send a clear, factual complaint. Attach the forensic report and quote the true originating IP, the timestamps and the location it identifies.
3. State plainly what the message was — harassment, fraud, impersonation — and what you are asking the provider to do.

Because the report traces the genuine source rather than the spoofed sender, it gives a provider the specific IP and time they need to identify the account on their side. Providers act far more readily on a concrete, evidence-backed report than on a vague complaint about a name in a From line.
