Forwarding as an attachment versus pasting the text
When you send us the offending email, how you send it decides whether the evidence survives.
- Best: forward as an attachment (or send the downloaded original). This keeps the original message — headers and all — intact inside your forward. In many mail apps this is 'Forward as Attachment'. Saving the original to a
.emlfile and attaching that works just as well. - Good: paste the full raw headers. If you have used your app's 'Show original' / 'View source' / 'Raw source' option, copy everything and paste it in.
- Avoid: a plain forward. A normal forward wraps the message in a new one and discards the original routing headers — leaving nothing to trace.
If in doubt, send the downloaded original file. It is the single most reliable way to make sure we receive everything we need.
